Robert R. Moore Biography

Bob was born in Saskatoon Saskatchewan in November of 1941.  He lived on everything from farms to fishing villages during his childhood and adolescence; he attended schools in three of the four western Provinces.  Bob and his family finally settled in British Columbia in 1953.

Bob on a sailing tripBob found that he loved drawing and painting at a very early age, and was encouraged by his mother to pursue an art career.  Unfortunately in those days an art career was a pipe dream and Bob was directed to get a “real” job by other members of his family.

Upon leaving high school in 1959, Bob joined the Royal Canadian Navy to pursue an education.  After several years he left the Navy equipped with an education and the determination to pursue his education more fully.

He attended Douglas College, Vancouver City College and Simon Fraser University and emerged with an Engineering Technologists diploma.  He also completed training as a Certified Scuba Diving Instructor during the same period of time.  Bob married and raised a family while working and still attending school.  Raising a family, working and attending school needless to say art was not a very large part of his life during those years.

Finally, the diversity of Bob’s life experiences inspired his art.  He attended several art schools until he found a home at Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design.  He completed three years of art training in drawingGreat Bear Nebula, painting and art history.  Upon completion he entered the art community in Vancouver and the surrounding areas close to home.  Bob has been active in the art community since that time.

In 2001 Bob semi retired from his work with a major supplier of petroleum equipment and moved to Halfmoon Bay on the Sunshine Coast.  Bob is involved in the Sunshine Coast’s very active artists community and is enjoying every minute of the experience. Bob fully retired as of April 2007 and is determined to finally become a full time artist.
