Robert R. Moore Biography
Bob was born in Saskatoon Saskatchewan in November of
1941. He lived on everything from farms to fishing
villages during his childhood and adolescence; he attended
schools in three of the four western Provinces. Bob and
his family finally settled in British Columbia in 1953.
Bob found that he loved drawing and painting at a very early
age, and was encouraged by his mother to pursue an art
career. Unfortunately in those days an art career was a
pipe dream and Bob was directed to get a “real” job
by other members of his family.
Upon leaving high school in 1959, Bob joined the Royal
Canadian Navy to pursue an education. After several years
he left the Navy equipped with an education and the
determination to pursue his education more fully.
He attended Douglas College, Vancouver City College and
Simon Fraser University and emerged with an Engineering
Technologists diploma. He also completed training as a
Certified Scuba Diving Instructor during the same period of
time. Bob married and raised a family while working and
still attending school. Raising a family, working and
attending school needless to say art was not a very large part
of his life during those years.
Finally, the diversity of Bob’s life experiences
inspired his art. He attended several art schools until
he found a home at Emily Carr Institute of Art and
Design. He completed three years of art training in
drawing
, painting and art history. Upon completion he
entered the art community in Vancouver and the surrounding
areas close to home. Bob has been active in the art
community since that time.
In 2001 Bob semi retired from his work with a major supplier
of petroleum equipment and moved to Halfmoon Bay on the
Sunshine Coast. Bob is involved in the Sunshine
Coast’s very active artists community and is enjoying
every minute of the experience. Bob fully retired as of April 2007 and is determined to finally become a
full time artist.
